25.12.10 Schäftlarn monastery (just before the completion of the restoration campaign 2000-11)

When in 2000 some stucco had to Abbey Dionys and Juliana be closed temporarily in the monastery Schäftlarn before them with a safety net could be opened in the nave again. After "studies in repair," as it says on the website of the Benedictine , 2003, a budget document-building for the Bavarian state parliament for almost seven million € was submitted. The following year was the building contract and it could begin the first phase of construction for static security . Gradually disappeared behind the facade and the interior scaffolding. In basic maintenance of the baroque building system in 2005/06 and in particular the roof protected static, taking advantage of existing restorations were dismantled. The planning and construction history of the abbey church reads like a Who's Who of Baroque art. In addition to Giovanni Antonio Viscardi, who delivered 1707, the plans, and Francois Cuvilliés Elder. That the construction of 1733-40 began to see the illustrious name of Johann Baptist and Johann Michael Fischer Gunetzrhainer, the construction of the 1751-60 completed. Schäftlarn monastery is thus one of those buildings, which reached in the late baroque Bavarian its final flowering. Add to that the excellent interior design is by the painter and plasterer Johann Baptist Zimmermann (1754-56). Johann Baptist Straub delivered to 1764 altars and the pulpit. These masters of their craft formed a late-baroque work of art, which has been subject to refurbishment in recent years. On the history of the (Premonstratensian) monastery, founded in 762 and renewed 1040, see the side of the abbey .

After they had created a pattern axis in the choir room, you put the successive appearance of the entire church interior restored. At Christmas, was now heard again the sound of the Baroque organ, which is surrounded by scaffolding still partly (3). The instrument is from Bayr Anton (1716-1792), who built over 150 organs, including the monasteries Tegernsee, Neustift bei Freising and Raitenhaslach (see page organ gallery with pictures of the scaffolded church and the organ). Also, the altarpiece is now no longer a duplicate imposed. On the wall piers in the nave and in the remote are also manholes electrification of the former to recognize (4). As always after renovation campaigns of late baroque space shells that amaze brightness and chromatic color of the cleaned frescoes and gold seed beads. In many places residents have to get used to it that their former shine in muted shades of church now as marzipan and tinsel. A similar effect was also following the reopening of Dresden's Frauenkirche observed, in which not the color of the early 20th century was, but the approximate version of the construction period (1726-43) was reconstructed. Each restoration is also just a part of a reconstruction, although we now thankfully usually not seek to reclaim a purified source state.

9.12. Bamberg, new chain bridge - Schönleinsplatz

A few days ago the new suspension bridge in Bamberg was released over the right Regnitz to traffic. It combines the royal road to the so-called island city and leads directly into the axis Hauptwachstraße - Maxplatz - Green Market. Since there pedestrian for the retail of enormous importance, we celebrated the new suspension bridge in the local press even as the gateway to Bamberg (see, FN Magazine ). In a very carefully designed Exhibition "1000 years of history in Bamberg bridge", the Municipal Archives recently reminded of the importance of the Chain Bridge (see more info as pdf ).

This view fails to recognize that the urban planning of the late 19 Century, the axis Luitpoldstraße - Luitpold Bridge - Willy-Lessing-Strasse to the new, dominant main axis have made. This broad content, the station staged to Schönleinsplatz the city entrance for the foreigners. Accordingly, the Schönleinsplatz with the mediation of the Long Road and architecturally excellent entrance into the city.

An act in the Central Registry of the New Town Hall on Maxplatz contains numerous maps of the period between 1877 and today that will make all the planning phases for the plaza vividly. In addition to a letter from the Shooting Society from 1893 to the city council, in which the Schönleinsplatz as the "most beautiful town square" is called, is also a phenomenal, well-drawn perspective view takes for a museum project by Theodor Fischer from before the First World War . The development around the place should therefore be able to meet the highest standards.

Vacancy the vacancy

Hello and Moin,
After many art projects in schools on the subject of home I am once again embarked on an issue that concerns me for several years already: the vacancy in Bremerhaven.
In our town there are almost in every district a huge bunch of stores that are empty, are unused and in some cases unusable because totally run down. Every day we run the past such empty stores and certainly not take it anymore true. Sometimes one wonders then most, if it reflects a new empty store, where for years but in our opinion was to good business. A few years ago I read in a shop window in Geestemünde following message: ". I close my shop That would not have to be if you had purchased from me and not up to the suburbs would have gone to shop in one of the big supermarkets." This has made me very beieindruckt and thoughtful. As of this afternoon I will
central theme with fellow artists in several empty shops in Bremerhaven-Wulsdorf in the Weserstrasse the vacancy there.
I have to photograph many empty shops in the city, printed in passport photo size, and empty cardboard boxes that have a viewing window, stuck. The boxes, I then decorated with ribbons and bows and placed on a shelf of the store. This will now be made clear once it is wievel vacancy. Furthermore, reference is made to the consumer and at the same time that sometimes a bit to the outside everything but it's not inside. Also, based on Bremerhaven and the vacancy is true that, for it is from the city done little to end the deplorable state of affairs. Most of the money flowing into the city and tourism, where everything is nice, (Have zBdie worlds) but the parts of the city degenerated more and more.

The promotion runs until 18 December and takes place in three different stores with 3 different topics. Open are the shops from Thursday to Saturday.

8.7.10 Ansbach (City, Residence & Orangery)

On a sunny July day, we were a group of art history students, on a trip to Ansbach - as part of an exercise of a well-known monuments. After the obligatory tour of the city, we looked at in detail in the residence. From the station, we are initially passed to the parish church of St. Louis (1 & 2). It was built in 1777/78 by the Munich architect Schmidtner Leonhardt, who also include re-Gothicised St. Jodok in Landshut . The early classical church received its patronage by King Ludwig I and after the St. Louis (see the Munich Ludwig Church ). found on the website of the parish, astonishingly comprehensive, art-historical tour with numerous illustrations.

Although I have in the current Promenadology not yet incorporated as accurate, I found but, as friend and prospective representatives of the (art-) historical research Promenade, the Ansbacher " Promenade " very interesting. Apart from the fact that they still as is, it is extremely well preserved (see the disastrous Altstadtring-car racing everywhere). The urban situation, at the city entrances / gates and the old city-edge development on the old ditches, still leaves much of the state of the 18 Guess century (3). To be honest, it must be said, however, that the aesthetically acceptable maintenance of such urban spaces in a relatively small city like Ansbach is easier than elsewhere.

for several hours, professionally managed tour of the pomp and guest apartments and numerous consuming, Baroque chamber ensemble, has informed us that Ansbach as one of the most outstanding, art history is not detailed enough appreciated castles in Bavaria brought to eyes (thanks to the hosts and the supervisor of the trip:). In particular, the sometimes very complete and well-preserved original wall coverings and chair slipcovers find a remarkable feature dar.

to the online publication of interior photographs I renounce principle of locks! Please ride itself out and have a look at the person! There is also a current official leader of the Bavarian Administration of State Palaces, Gardens and lakes, which lists all the equipment in detail. Unfortunately, the interest stops at this late Baroque interior design highlights so far rather limited. Absolutely sensational architecture, the facade of the courtyard (1716-30) by the architect Gabriel de Gabrieli that has me as a friend, almost the most impressive architecture (5). For the other phases also see Karl Friedrich Zocha (1719-30) and Leopold Retti (1731-49).

Since not All chapels and crypts Anräume were available, there are already several reasons to go back soon to Ansbach. I can recommend to everyone! Perhaps we might as well under Forma do it over. An enforced stay in the Umsteigebahnhofsstadt Treuchtlingen rounded out the field trip.

18.7.10 Abensberg, hundreds of water-tower, measuring the Official

This summer I had it at least once again in the asparagus and Aventinus managed City Abensberg: For the first time since the completion of the so-called Hundertwasser tower on the brewery premises Kuchlbauer (1). This long-time highly controversial, but almost steeple high architectural experience, has become an attraction on sunny days, especially for families from the surrounding area.

The Office Building is now being marketed as "Kuchlbauer Tower" (see this more marketing information, quotes the client Leonhard Salleck to this "for architecture" and to " Hundertwasser in Abensberg "). What Friedensreich Hundertwasser would have said to that. Beforehand, the had expressed Bavarian State Conservation Office and the community against the project for a 70 m high tower (now 34.19 m). The city website omitted any mention of the tower. He was executed now, ten years after the death of hundreds of water by the architect Peter Pelikan . I am still on the edge the "Measure office" notice (2).
