22.7.10 12.9.10 Bamberg
On one of my many visits Bamberg I once again gathered a few impressions. I found a very nice goal from the period, which was converted into a parking garage entrance (1). In addition, there are also the inevitable high-rise at the station (2), which is also found in Fürth and many other cities. In the Luitpoldstraße on a plaque commemorating the founding of the Federal Frankish singers in 1862 recalls (3). Stood a house there, or have made the singer under the stars?

Things To Congratuate A Baby
Heritage Day: Memorial of Louis I., Freed home to the coal-street, St. Luke
On 12 September I was on the Heritage Day (see the " forum for modern architecture in Munich "). First, I am past the "Street Live Festival" to just re-unveiled statue of Louis I. Odeonsplatz of Max von Widnmann . Then in the Bavarian State Conservation Office in the Old Mint, where a stand of books, was set up including people from -Verlag and a small exhibition on wood. A presentation with movable walls dated back the 100th anniversary of the Memorial office last year.
(1) statue of Louis I. Odeonsplatz (newly renovated!)
Then I was in Own Home on the road Bergmann (1927) by Theodor Fischer. This building and the nearby Church of St. Rupert, I had offered twice guided tours. The well-ADAPTED common rooms and stairwells of the Single home were to look at the perfect sunny weather is very nice. The dining room was also a small display on the history of the house to see with old photos.
(2) Dining at the home of the Single Bergmannstraße Theodor Fischer
Then I went to Bernheimer's Palace, where Mr. Klein has been a guide in front of plenty of audience. Unfortunately, you could not see inside, since the building was closed. Much new law was not there, because I already know Mr. Klein's publications and also on this subject I've written thesis.
(3) St. Luke's Church of the gallery on the altar
After that I was still in a newly restored residential and commercial building in the convent road and then at the Church of St. Luke of Albert Schmidt . There are the pastor and the organist is a very interesting tour given by the largest Protestant church in Munich. In addition to a demonstration of the organ, could be on the dome (roof). After visiting Thats has liturgical apparatus in the sacristy.

(1) Church of Arnstorf
(2) Church of Unterzeitlarn
was the day after the wedding in Mariakirchen I made a small church tour. About Arnstorf (not available for worship) and Unterzeitlarn (1 & 2) It went to parish churches, where the first Sanctuary Gartlberg Dome of Niko Zuccali Christoph, above the village, was on the program.
(3) Sanctuary Gartlberg, two-tower front
(4) Gartlberg
(5) Gartlberg, side door inside
(6) Gartlberg, pulpit figure
(7) town square of parish churches
(8) Horse monument in parish churches
(9) Tower of the Parish Church
(10) Extension of the Church 1971
From parish churches we went to Bad Birnbach (11 and 12) to the monastery Fürstenzell (13-15).
(11) Off in the parish church of Bad Birnbach
(12) Bad Birnbach, choir
The former abbey church Fürstenzell was the late-Baroque high point of the trip. There, they have once again managed large groups of trees to plant in front of the facade or not to cut adequately cope. Only direct head-on and from the immediate vicinity you can visit the twin-tower front to some extent. The building is one of the many churches that have nearly ruined (1739), finally by Johann Michael Fischer were completed as a Masterpiece (1740). Then it was all the small monastery of San Salvatore , south of Ortenburg .

The fresco painter Johann Jakob Zeiller was in the late Baroque, almost something like a star painter. He was also active in Ettal , Aldersbach and Ottobeuren . As part of a thesis He is staying with me the Anastasiakapelle in Beneditkbeuern and the parish church of St. George in Bichl .

18.9.10 Usterling, Landau ad Donau, Mariakirchen
Am 18.9. I was invited to the wedding of my great cousins. On this occasion I went to church before or Usterling at Landau ad Isar . The churches in the area I had seen in the last year, but not the late-Gothic altar by Usterling. This time I measured Erin has extra unlocked (thank you). In the beautiful late summer sun, there was a special experience. The altar is probably from the Leinberger school and should be in the war for a lot of money to U.S. soldiers be sold. Well, it's not happened. On the altar wings relief with the baptism of Christ the Rock of so-called Growing Usterling is shown (see below).
(1) church Usterling
(2) Choir and altar
(3) shrine figures
(4) Scream monitor with panel paintings of the altar wing
A stone's throw from the church on edge is the natural wonder Growing Rock - very impressive. But look!
(5) Growing Rock at Usterling
(6) Plaque on a house in Landau ad Isar
was after this experience a little stroll through Landau ad Isar on the program. The parish church of St. Mary of Dominic magazine I've seen already in two other visits, said it was open only to the grid. After the interval, in Landau went to the wedding to Maria churches.
(7) gate tower of the castle in Mariakirchen
(8) Parish Assumption (1741)
At the entrance of the small village Mariakirchen at Arnstorf (between Landau and parishes ) is a small water tower . Who knows the extensive portfolio "Historico-topographica descriptio Bavaria" (1701-26) by Michael Wening knows that it has previously been much more such country manor. The farm buildings are used as a brewery restaurant, the castle as a restaurant and hotel. The little castle is a four-winged building and enter through a gate tower (7). Near the castle was built recently a modern hotel, which is entered through an old garden shed. The next day I made a smaller church tour in the area (eg by churches and Fürstenzell ).

On the way to Solln I'm past and I have cycled in Sendling me the monument to the Schmied von Kochel (1909-11) by Carl Ebbinghaus viewed. On the way back I drove along the Isar. In addition to a Isartalbahnhof of 1893 I came past on power plants and beautiful Art Nouveau buildings (see numerous monuments in the Ludwigsvortadt ).

Wiesbaden, Mainz
(1) Spa with Bowling Green on Kaiser-Friedrich-Platz, in the evening
(2) Bowling Green with a fountain by the Spa at sunset
(3) Spa from 1902-07 at night
The first major research residence for promotion led me to Wiesbaden. There, I treat the Kurplatz composed of Kaiser-Friedrich-Platz (formerly Theater and William place), Bowling Green and spa resort (formerly Cursaalplatz) includes (1-2). The square is framed by large colonnades. Kaiser-Friedrich-Platz is the heavily shaped neo-baroque building is the Hotel Nassauer Hof . On the other side of the square lies the spa of the Munich architect Friedrich von Thiersch (1902-07).
(4) memorial bust of the spa director Ferdinand Hey'l
in the park (5) Monument of the poet Gustav Freytag
(6) fountain in the park
Unfortunately, taken in the Second World War, the building authority, with all construction documents were destroyed. Therefore I could only search the Civil Engineering Department. There I will take another look over, because the time was not enough wealth to sift through the files. Many things you have to look for these files together and reconstruct, for example on plaster and duct work.
(7) Mary Help of Christians Church in the northwest of the city
(8) Holy Trinity Church in the southern
In the city archives, there were also many interesting documents, such As the Treaty with Friedrich von Thiersch to build the spa of 1902 (3) and the transcript of a lecture by Joseph Stubben on urban planning in Wiesbaden in 1917. In an act was a great exchange of letters of the resort director Ferdinand Hey'l (4) to the local planning Lemcke from the 1880s. There, too, I'll still look at least once over.
(9) side elevation of the market church
(10) The main facade of the market church in the evening
(11) twin-tower facade of St. Boniface Church
addition, I have still in the Hessian State Library (construction 1913) Special excerpted some older literature. It even gave a tour through the house, where we have also got the magazines shown. As a constant reference point acts in Wiesbaden, the many-towered church market (9-10) by Carl Boos (1853-62). The rest of the time I made extensive forays into Wiesbaden and seen a lot. Nevertheless, I will next time still have much to visit. I found interesting include the Mary Help of Christians Church of Max Meckel, who planned including the Frankfurter Römer .
(12) Main entrance to the ring church (on the back of the west)
(13) Ring Church from inside (the central space with galleries)

A few Impressions of my tours give the photos I took with the new camera. First, I watched the Ringkirche of Johannes Otzen, who played as Programmbau in connection with the Wiesbaden program, which has replaced the regulative Eisenach, an important role. Among other things, I have my mountain church quarters (14-15), the Southern City (16-17), the historic pentagon, the houses on the street Dozheimer (18) and the residential area on the Bierstadter slope (see also " new Wiesbaden ") considered (19). On the way back I made a brief stopover in Mainz. However, there was only time for a short stroll through the city.
